The Word works! The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit works through the Word and the Sacraments to create and strengthen saving faith. This is why we worship. This is why we spend time in Bible study, too. Here are some of the opportunities we offer at Bethlehem.
"As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:10-11
The easiest way to get involved in Bible study at Bethlehem happens on Sunday mornings. Between Labor Day and Memorial Day we offer Bible studies on a variety of topics from 9:25-10:15am.
Here's what we'll be covering in 2024-25 (Starting Sunday, September 8):
September – October 2024
Do you read and study the Bible as much as you’d like to? Maybe you don’t know where or how to start? This study led by Pastor Westra will give practical ideas to make the thought of personal and group Bible less intimidating.

How does the Biblical teaching of Creation compare to the theory of Evolution? What is a good approach to talking to others about what you believe about the origin of the universe and why? In this study, Pastor Paustian will walk through the basics of the Bible’s teaching on Creation and the theory of Evolution and how to talk about the differences.

There’s more going on here than meets the eye. The Bible tells us that there are spiritual battles going on behind the scene. Throughout the Bible we get glimpses of angels and demons. What are they? What do they do? How should we feel about them? Pastor Westra will explain the Bible’s teachings on this subject in this seven-lesson study.
March 2025
What does it mean to be Lutheran? The Lutheran Confessions exist to answer this question. This five-week study led by Pastor Paustian will introduce you to the documents that define and defend Lutheran teaching.
April-May 2025
God did amazing things through the Apostle Paul. He turned him from the greatest enemy of Christ’s Church to its greatest champion. In this five-week study, find out more about this dedicated spreader of Good News.
Bible Basics is a course that covers all the basic teachings of the Bible in 13 lessons.
